Report: Tottenham think club will sell them 'sensational' player for just £20m; Levy has a genius plan to get deal done
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to make another bid for Everton winger Antony Gordon, and have hatched a genius plan to get the deal over the line.
The Mirror (Print edition, 03/07, p74) reports today that Spurs are looking to offer £20m for Gordon, but as part of that deal, they’re also willing to write off a £10m payment owed by the Toffees for Dele Alli. It would take the total deal to around the £30m mark but would see Spurs spend just £20m from this summer’s budget.
Reports last week suggested a bid of around £25m might be enough to tempt Everton into selling Gordon, even though they have just lost Richarlison to Tottenham as well. Frank Lampard is keen to keep hold of the ‘sensational‘ youngster but knows the club’s finances are a problem.
There has been talk of a takeover but as yet, nothing is close to being done. For Tottenham, they are simply powering ahead with trying to strengthen their ranks. Gordon is seen as one of the top young players in the Premier League, and Conte will admire his versatility.
Should Everton accept this latest proposal, it will be another twist in the bizarre deal to sign Alli in the first place.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Using All They Can To Sign Gordon It Seems
Wow. This has Daniel Levy written all over it and is a bit of a master plan from the Spurs supremo in terms of getting a deal done for Gordon.
Should this go ahead, then Everton fans will probably be fuming. Dele has been a flop signing so far and Gordon is seen as the future of the club. If they lose him for just £20m plus £10m owed cash, it will be a nightmare.
Frank Lampard will be hoping and praying this doesn’t happen.
