Everton ace Anthony Gordon was “sensational” against Manchester United on Saturday, according to James McFadden.

The Toffees continue to impress under new manager Rafa Benitez as they picked up a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Everton were unlucky to fall behind just before half time as Anthony Martial claimed his first goal since February.

The Blues had threatened prior to the hosts’ breakthrough as Salomon Rondon, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Demarai Gray all came close.

Everton managed to equalise in the 65th minute, Andros Townsend scoring with a composed finish past David de Gea.

Later on, the Goodison Park outfit had the ball in the back of the net once again, but VAR deemed Yerry Mina’s goal offside.

Benitez gave Gordon a chance in the starting XI in wake of Alex Iwobi’s absence through injury, and he performed superbly.

The 20-year-old featured in many of Everton’s attacks, worked hard throughout and got stuck in, giving as good as he got.

McFadden, commentating on BBC Sport, praised Gordon’s display at full time.

“Everton are well deserving of their point,” he said (14:36).

“It was a really strong first half performance. Everton were not troubled too much in the second.

“It was fantastically organised performance and they had that threat on the counter-attack.

“Anthony Gordon was sensational with the shift he put in.”

After the international break, Everton are next in action on Sunday 17 October, hosting West Ham at Goodison Park.
