Report: Conte's 'dream' Tottenham signing wants £90k-a-week in wages; two other clubs already in contact
Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, might fancy signing Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma this summer but Spurs will need to fork out some big wages to do so.
Zaniolo is set to be made available by Roma this summer, despite them seeing him as a key player. Reports yesterday suggested the Italian side had decided to cash in on their man, with a price tag of around £42-43m being sought.
Of course, it’s well-known that Tottenham boss Conte considers Zaniolo one of his ‘dream’ signings. However, if Spurs are to land the Italian star, then they’ll need to cough up some hefty wages to do so.
That’s because La Repubblica have detailed today how Zaniolo is requesting around the £90k-a-week mark in wages before moving on from the Rome club. That amounts to just shy of £5m-a-season, and means Spurs would be putting him in their higher earner bracket – below the likes of Kane and Son, of course.
Zaniolo has been a key player for Roma but with just two years on his contract and no new deal in sight, a move could very much be on the cards. La Repubblica reports how both AC Milan and Juventus have made contact with Zaniolo’s agents over a potential deal.
TBR’s View: Zaniolo Worth The Big Contract For Tottenham
Champions League qualification means more money to spend and more money to spend means better players. Spurs, then, should just stump up the money for Zaniolo.
He is a class act and as Conte seems to want him so much, surely it makes sense for Paratici to deliver? Naturally, the midfielder might have his preferred option. But surely the lure of London, Conte, and CL football can help Spurs here.
If Spurs do sign Zaniolo, he’ll be worth the money and contract. He really is a top midfielder with more scope for improvement as well.
