Tottenham Hotspur plan to make a move for Nicolo Zaniolo this summer whether Antonio Conte stays at the club or not, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Zaniolo is a player who has been linked with Spurs for some time. Tuttomercatoweb noted that Jose Mourinho was keen to bring the Roma star to North London during his own tenure.

Conte is also a big admirer of the attacking midfielder. In fact, previous reports claimed that the Italian dreams of using Zaniolo behind Harry Kane.

Zaniolo reportedly has offers from England ahead of the summer. Roma are open to letting him go, with an asking price of around £42 million.

Tottenham plan to scout the youngster on Thursday when the Giallorossi face Leicester City in the Europa Conference League.

However, there is some real uncertainty surrounding Spurs right now. Reports this week claimed that Conte could be in contention for the Paris Saint-Germain job.

And with that, some may think that Tottenham making a bid for Zaniolo may depend on what happens with Conte. But it would actually appear that Spurs do not see that way.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham is working to sign Zaniolo regardless of whether Conte stays or not.

Tottenham signing Nicolo Zaniolo will be much tougher if Conte leaves

Zaniolo is an ‘incredible‘ talent. Reports have claimed that Newcastle and Liverpool also want him. And there is likely to be interest from elsewhere also.

So Tottenham face a battle to sign him. And you would imagine that losing Conte would not make things any easier.

He is a world-class manager. And Spurs look to have serious potential with him with at the helm.

If he decided to leave, Zaniolo would be forgiven for wanting to see who replaces him before making a decision regarding whether to join Tottenham or not.
