Tottenham target Milan Skriniar drops hint about future
Tottenham target Milan Skriniar appears to have provided a clear hint concerning his future as he shared his goal for the coming season on the Inter Milan official website.
There have been fresh links between Spurs and the Slovakian this summer. In fact, it was claimed on Wednesday that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio had received a proposal from the Premier League side.
Fabio Paratici is looking to bolster the defensive options available to Nuno Espirito Santo.
Of course, Paratici will have been aware of Skriniar from his time at Juventus.
And Spurs have been linked with the £51.5 million-rated 26-year-old for some time.
In truth, Tottenham luring Skriniar away from San Siro always looked set to be a tricky task.
Inter won Serie A last year. They can offer Champions League football next season. Spurs meanwhile, are rebuilding.
And it does appear that the defender is not looking to leave. He has now suggested that he wants to help the Nerazzurri defend the Scudetto next year.
“My personal objectives for the coming season are the same as usual: to fight for the Inter cause and help the team,” he told Inter Milan’s official website.
“We won the title last year and we mustn’t lower our guard this season. We believe we can win it can. I hope to be able to do my bit as always – and maybe even score a few more goals.”
Skriniar comments surely end Tottenham hopes of summer deal
Of course, Skriniar is unlikely to claim he wants to play elsewhere. But if he was keen to leave, he could have surely been a lot more cagey in his response.
That would therefore, hint that he is indeed keen to stay with Inter.
Perhaps that is not necessarily the end of the story. If Spurs make a huge offer, Skriniar may be tempted to speak to Paratici.
But it does certainly appear that landing Skriniar may be beyond Tottenham this summer – judging by his comments.
