Tottenham star Dejan Kuluevski says he has always thought of himself as a No 10
Dejan Kulusevski may have just saved Tottenham Hotspur millions in the transfer window after claiming that he sees himself as a natural No 10.
Spurs have had a stunning transfer window so far. The North Londoners have brought in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence, but Antonio Conte is still reportedly looking for a new man in attacking midfield.
Leicester City star James Maddison has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks. Fabrizio Romano even revealed that Spurs have an excellent relationship with his agent, which could help them in their reported pursuit.
However, Tottenham may not even need Maddison as they already have a fantastic ‘No 10’ in in their squad.
Dejan Kulusevski says he sees himself as a No 10
Kulusevski faced the media ahead of Tottenham’s game against AS Roma in Israel this evening. The Swede was asked about his best position, and he made it clear that he is open to playing in attacking midfield.
He told Football London: “It’s a very good question, I’ve been thinking about this all my whole life.
“I always thought of me being a No 10, I still think I am, but my best results as a football player have always come being a right winger, so I don’t know!
“In the future, we will see where I’ll be. Yeah I can probably play wing-back too. It’s football, you want to help a good team, you want to play, enjoy, work hard and have fun.”
The Swede could save Tottenham millions
James Maddison is a fantastic player and it’s not a surprise to see reports claiming that Tottenham are interested in signing him. However, he’ll cost a fortune this summer, with Leicester demanding a fee close to £60 million to let him go. (Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth)
Kulusevski could step up and save that money for Tottenham.
Yes, he was absolutely brilliant on the right flank last season, but Spurs have Richarlison now. The Brazilian is more than capable of playing out wide, which could open the door for Conte to deploy Kulusevski in a number 10 role.
A front four of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Richarlison and Kulusevski could make Spurs the most dangerous team in the Premier League, and we’re sure Spurs fans would to see all of them start together next season.
