Report: Tottenham want to sign ‘absolutely brilliant’ £47m man, even though Lenglet deal is close

Tottenham are closing in on a deal to bring Clement Lenglet to the club, but could still make a move to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal.

That’s according to 90Min anyway, who write today that Spurs do still hold an interest in Torres, as well as the Italian central defender, Alessandro Bastoni.

Torres has featured on Tottenham’s wanted list for some time now. Indeed, just a month or so ago they were said to be considering offering money and Gio Lo Celso to the Spanish side in order to sign Torres. The interest from Spurs stretches all the way back to last summer, in fact.

But despite reports today claiming that Clement Lenglet was close to joining the club, 90Min have snuck a line in their article looking at Spurs’ squad for next season and suggested that Torres and Bastoni remain firmly on the club’s radar right now.

Torres, who has previously been lauded as being ‘absolutely brilliant’ defender, would cost north of £40m for Spurs, should they wish to do a deal. Villarreal have been firm in their stance of demanding between the £45-50m mark.

TBR’s View: Pau Torres To Tottenham Would Get Attention

Most Spurs fans would probably be happy if their transfer business ended right now. But it doesn’t seem Fabio Paratici is ready to give in just yet and more and more names keep getting linked.

In terms of Pau Torres, well, it would be a remarkable signing. Especially when the club are said to be moving to bring Lenglet in as well.

Torres is well on his way to that world-class category of defender so many clubs crave. In fact, if Tottenham pulled this one off, it wouldn’t half send shockwaves. If Paratici was to make this happen, then Spurs fans could do nothing but sit back and applaud.
