Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides interested in Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo, with a number of Premier League sides chasing the £20 million-rated centre-back.
That is according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (26/11; page 70), which notes that Liverpool and Newcastle United are also pursuing the 20-year-old.
Lucas Beraldo looks destined to be one of the next names to swap the Brazilian top-flight for one of Europe’s major leagues. There are certainly a number of teams who want to bring him to England.
Tottenham interested in Lucas Beraldo
Journalist Graeme Bailey previously told Talking Transfers that Liverpool want Beraldo. And the Sunday Mirror (26/11; page 70) reports that the Reds are believed to have already held talks about a potential move for the São Paulo player.

But Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United are also admirers. And the Mirror also suggests that Tottenham have the youngster on their radar.
Spurs’ interest in particularly intriguing because Bailey noted that he had been told by someone that Beraldo is similar to Micky van de Ven.
Spurs would love another van de Ven
Certainly, Tottenham fans would have few complaints if they uncovered another van de Ven. The Dutchman is looking like the real deal after a superb start in the Premier League. It seems to be a massive blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side to lose van de Ven to injury.
Tottenham definitely need greater depth at the heart of their defence. Van de Ven has formed an outstanding partnership with Cristian Romero since his £43 million move. But Postecoglou does not have a great number of options after the pair.
So it would be an exciting bit of business if they can bring Beraldo in in January. But clearly, there is a lot of fierce competition for his signature.
