Tottenham Hotspur now reportedly want to sign Marcus Edwards – a player who left Eric Dier amazed by his strength.
Record.pt claimed earlier today that Spurs are interested in bringing Edwards back to north London.
The 23-year-old came through Spurs’ academy set-up but left the club in 2019 after only making one first-team appearance under Mauricio Pochettino.
The talented winger impressed during his time at Vitoria Guimaraes before sealing a switch to Sporting Lisbon last year.
Edwards is now seen as one of the brightest talents in Portugal and put in two impressive displays against Antonio Conte’s men in the Champions League this season.
Now, Spurs are apparently lining up a surprise move for their academy product and Edwards has certainly impressed Dier with his displays.

Dier amazed by Edwards
Speaking ahead of Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Sporting back in September, Dier praised Edwards for his natural talent and strength on the ball.
“Very talented player. He’s done extremely well since he arrived and he’s someone we’ll have to watch out for. Leaving the situation at Tottenham and coming to a new country, I think he can be very proud of himself,” Dier told Football.London.
“He’s very talented and strong and yes it would be great if he could make it to the national team. If he keeps evolving like that I’m sure he could make it to the national team.”

Edwards produced a brilliant solo run against Spurs back in September that nearly resulted in a spectacular goal.
The Englishman managed to get on the scoresheet in north London at the end of last month too as he bagged a goal against his former side, which earned Sporting a 1-1 draw in the end.
Football.London reports that Spurs are in the market for ‘quality’ cover for Dejan Kulusevski and Edwards would certainly provide this.
Conte has been left short in terms of attacking options in recent weeks, with Richarlison, Heung-Min Son and Kulusevski picking up injuries at various points.
The Italian seems reluctant to give Bryan Gil a run in the side and it seems that Spurs are in need of another top-quality attacking option.
Edwards would provide something Tottenham are lacking at the moment. The winger is an elite ball-carrier and would certainly help Spurs attack with more haste.
