Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs chasing a deal for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in the January window but now have fresh doubts.
Todibo is on Tottenham’s list of defensive targets as the winter window opens. The Frenchman has reportedly been told he’d play a key role in the Spurs side, who are looking to add to the squad.
Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen on Todibo. The former Barcelona man could cost up to £52m if he does leave Nice.
However, after reportedly holding talks with Todibo, it seems he might not be going anywhere at all.
Tottenham have doubts over signing Jean-Clair Todibo
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham have started talks over the signing of Tobibo.
Jacobs claims that while Spurs have opened talks over signing Todibo, there is a pessimism now about whether a deal is actually possible in January.
Taking to X, Jacobs reports that Tottenham now feel a deal could be hard to get done.
Tottenham are looking at a number of names when it comes to landing a new defender in January.
Radu Dragusin has been one getting a mention, while Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly is also a player of interest to the Spurs board.
Ange Postecoglou is hoping to be backed in the window after his impressive start to life as manager.
Spurs will move on quickly if Todibo is off
Tottenham need to get their business done as early as they can in January when it comes to a new central defender.
Micky van de Ven is out and not due back till the back end of the window at the earliest so it’s vital they get someone in if they can.
With this news, it does seem like a deal for Todibo will be hard to do and with that, they’ll have to move on quickly to other players.
There’s a number of names out there for Spurs to go for and you can expect Postecoglou will be pushing his board to get a deal over the line ASAP.
