Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United could soon make a bid for Jean-Clair Todibo.

That is according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, who has noted on X how much transfer fee United will need to pay for Todibo.

So, what has been reported about Manchester United and Jean-Clair Todibo? Let’s take a look.

Manchester United could bid for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo

Well, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti on X, Manchester United are interested in signing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice in the January transfer window.

Galetti has claimed that Todibo is open to a move to the Premier League. Nice are looking for €50-€60 million (£43.41-£52.09 million) in transfer fees for the France international defender.

United, though, are not the only club who are keen on the 23-year-old. Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the former Barcelona player.

There is even speculation that Spurs are ready to guarantee Todibo a place in the starting lineup if he joins. Liverpool have been linked as well.

My View: January transfer could be tricky

I am not sure if Manchester United will be able to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice in the January transfer window.

While Nice have put a valuation on Todibo, I am not entirely sold on the idea that they will actually cash in on the former Barcelona central defender in the middle of the season.

After all, Nice are in the race for the Ligue 1 title this season. Francesco Farioli’s side are only five points behind leaders and defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in second place at the moment.

Would Nice really be willing to jeopardise their chances of winning Ligue 1 by selling one of the best and most important players in the middle of the season?

Wouldn’t it be better for Les Aiglons to wait until the end of the season before selling Todibo? The defender is under contract at Nice until 2027, so there is no rush for them to cash in on him.

Todibo has given one assist in 14 Ligue 1 appearances this season and played 34 matches in the league in 2022-23.
