Tottenham transfer news: Seny Dieng being looked at as possible Hugo Lloris replacement

Question marks surrounding Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’s future were heightened after last Sunday’s defeat.

The Frenchman palmed a deflected Bukayo Saka shot into his own net, gifting Arsenal the lead.

A tweet shared by Guardian journalist Will Unwin suggests the search is very much on for Lloris’s replacement.

Lloris is the only player who has made three errors leading to goals in the Premier League.

No player has made more, and confidence in the World Cup winner is starting to dwindle amongst Tottenham fans.

A number of goalkeepers have since been linked with a move to north London.

Everton shot stopper Jordan Pickford is one name being thrown around.

Spurs may secretly be hoping the Toffees are relegated this season to potentially make a move for Pickford easier.

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has also been linked with a move to Spurs in recent days.

However, Unwin believes Tottenham may be looking at QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

The Championship shot stopper has had an eventful season to say the least.

Tottenham looking at summer move for Dieng

Unwin’s tweet suggests that Spurs aren’t the only Premier League side interested in the Senegalese international.

“Spurs, Brighton and Brentford are all monitoring QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window.” Unwin tweeted.

Former QPR manager Mark Warburton is a big fan of Dieng, and once called him ‘outstanding’.

“The double save in the first half from our goalkeeper was outstanding,” Warburton said last season after their win against Cardiff.

“He was reassuring and had presence. That will give the team so much confidence and it’s another clean sheet.”

However, Dieng made headlines at the start of this season for scoring a last-minute equaliser against Sunderland.

Dieng rose highest not only to win the initial header from a corner, but also to nod in the follow-up cross.

It’s unlikely Antonio Conte would be too worried about Dieng’s goal scoring capabilities when scouting the 28-year-old.

However, Tottenham are looking at the headline grabbing Dieng as unlike Lloris, he knows how to find the back of the opposition net, rather than his own.
