Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham really appreciate Everton's Jordan Pickford
Tottenham Hotspur‘s need for a new goalkeeper was evident again at the weekend, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Jordan Pickford is one of the names on Spurs’ wish list.
The Englishman joined Everton from Sunderland for a then-club-record £30 million (Sky Sports). He has been a fine player for club and country since, but it’s only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club.
Spurs, who desperately need an upgrade in goal, could do with Pickford.
Fabrizio Romano says Everton’s Jordan Pickford is appreciated at Tottenham
Arsenal absolutely dominated Tottenham in the North London Derby on Sunday, and one player who has come under immense criticism for his display is Hugo Lloris.
The Frenchman has been questioned on numerous occasions in the past, but every single manager he has worked under has stuck by him. However, his mistakes still continue to cost Spurs and that’s not ideal at all.
Lloris made a meal of Bukayo Saka’s deflected cross and the ball ended up in the back of the net. That made Arsenal even more confident than they were, and the Gunners deservedly picked up all three points.
Spurs fans are desperate for a change in goal next season, and reports have revealed that Tottenham are considering bringing in a replacement for Lloris.
Romano has backed those rumours and has claimed now that folks at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium really appreciate Pickford.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham have to decide what their plans are with Lloris because he is not super young.
“This is why they are exploring options around Europe and Pickford is one of many goalkeepers appreciated.”
TBR View:
Pickford is England’s number one ahead of the Man of the Match at the North London Derby – Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.
That should tell all Spurs fans how good he is, and he has shown his class for club and country on numerous occasions over the last few years.
Branded as an ‘exceptional’ goalkeeper, Pickford is one of Everton’s most valuable players, but if Spurs really want him at the end of this season, he could be available for a bargain.
The 28-year-old will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and if Everton don’t improve in the coming months, they could well get relegated. That would be ideal for Spurs, who could then get him for a very, very cheap fee.
