Tottenham interested in £22m forward who is now available for loan
Tottenham have now been named among the clubs interested in signing Villarreal wideman Arnaut Danjuma.
The Mail report that Spurs are interested in the forward, who moved to Spain for £22 million but is available on loan this month.
They claim that there is competition from Everton and Aston Villa, as well as his former employers Bournemouth for the winger.
Danjuma’s old Villarreal boss Unai Emery is of course in the dugout at Villa Park, and has said that he wants a winger signed this month.
Tottenham target Danjuma has called himself one of the world’s best
Danjuma’s career sparked into life in Spain after a difficult time in the Premier League and in April, he told the Guardian he thinks he is among the best wingers in the world.
He said: “If we look at what I’ve done (in the 2012/22) season it’s quite fair and factual to say I’m among the best wingers in the world.
“To be the best you need to aim for more, and there’s so much I still want to achieve. I work with the striker coach on a daily basis. He sends me clips of every training session. I look into my movement, the way I run, how I pop the ball off.
“I look into my shape, where I stand in the formation. After the game we go through it and see there’s a lot of stuff I can do better.”
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Danjuma is very open to a return to the Premier League this month and in December, he said he would not close the door on that.
Danjuma was red-hot last season, so it has been quite a change in circumstances to be available for loan in this transfer window.
Spurs fans may be frustrated with a loan signing, but this one does seem like it could tick a lot of boxes and leave money free to sign another target or two as well.
Danjuma was a key part of the Villarreal side which made an unlikely run to last season’s Champions League semi-finals, and if he could help Spurs repeat that feat this term, the loan would be a roaring success.
