‘Open to leaving': 25-year-old West Ham tried to sign in the summer says he would happily move to the PL

Arnaut Danjuma was heavily linked with West Ham in the summer and says he is still open to a Premier League move.

It was reported that West Ham even offered the Villarreal winger a contract but the deal did not get over the line.

Why that was is not 100 per cent clear but he remains in La Liga at a club who are moving on from the departure of Unai Emery.

Danjuma told the Athletic he is still open to a move to the Premier League, with the January transfer window soon to open.

Danjuma open to Premier League move

“You always have to say yes,” Danjuma said when asked if he is open to coming to the Premier League.

“You can’t shut the door to the Premier League.

“The competitiveness of the country, the way that the fans are, the way that football has been ingrained here in the people’s culture — the Premier League is a different kind of experience.

“At the right time, at the right moment in my career, you always have to be open to that.”

Danjuma was at Bournemouth under Eddie Howe but they got relegated at the end of his first season so he headed off to Spain.

At Villarreal, he has shown himself as a player capable of doing the business in the Champions League and that clearly caught West Ham’s eye.

If and when he comes back to the Premier League remains to be seen but he likely has some unfinished business in the English top flight.
