Tottenham interest in Milan Skriniar may be one to watch - journalist
Journalist Ben Jacobs has told The Last Word On Spurs Podcast that Tottenham Hotspur are on the periphery of the race to sign Milan Skriniar, and said that their interest in the Inter Milan centre-back may be one to watch in the final weeks of the window.
Tottenham have signed another centre-back in this window. However, you would imagine that Antonio Conte may not feel that they have all of the options that he would like.
Reports claimed that they wanted Josko Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni. The pair are two of the highest-rated, young centre-backs around right now.
Meanwhile, the player brought in has been Clement Lenglet, who has joined on loan. And with that, Spurs may perhaps continue to pursue another defender.
Jacobs noted that Max Kilman has admirers at Tottenham. But he also suggested that the Slovakian moving to Tottenham may not be out of the question just yet.
“Centre-back could be another priority area where Tottenham look to strengthen,” he told The Last Word On Spurs. “They have kept an eye on Bastoni, but Inter are highly unlikely to let him leave.
“Skriniar is another option though and Tottenham are loosely in the race. The good news for Spurs and Chelsea with Skriniar is that Inter I think will eventually have to sell somebody big and PSG for now have cooled their interest.
“That’s one to watch before the end of the window.”
Tottenham interest in Skriniar one to watch
Signing Skriniar would be a huge statement ahead of the summer window’s deadline. He has established himself as one of the best defenders playing in Europe.
He has now made over 200 appearances for the Nerazzurri. And of course, he won the Scudetto under Conte one year ago.
Reports have previously claimed that he could cost £60 million. So it would be a huge outlay at this stage of the window.
But if Tottenham manage to offload some of their unwanted players in the weeks ahead, they may have the funds for one more big signing.
Perhaps, Skriniar could prove to be that player.
