‘They love him’: Journalist says one of Tottenham's summer signings has already made huge impact on dressing room
Journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking about Richarlison in his latest YouTube video and says the forward has already made a huge impact on the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room.
Richarlison made the switch from Everton this summer and has already forced his way into Antonio Conte’s starting line-up.
The Brazilian has been handed consecutive starts by the Spurs boss and certainly hasn’t disappointed.
The 25-year-old put in a brilliant display against Fulham last weekend as he grabbed an assist and was unlucky to have not scored.
But Richarlison did get off the mark last Wednesday as he scored two goals to hand Spurs a victory in their Champions League opener against Marseille.
And the striker is apparently already one of the most popular players at the club.
Richarlison has already made huge impact on dressing room
Gold mentioned Richarlison’s controversial showboating against Nottingham Forest a few weeks back and believes it cemented his place as a fan favourite.
“All it’s done [showboating] is solidify Richarlison in that moment as a fan favourite at Spurs already because he absolutely took what they said and just had a laugh about it,” Gold said.
“I think the way the fans took to that, they loved it. And I think what’s happened since [Richarlison performances], he’s swiftly becoming one of the most popular players at the club already. And that’s inside and out, they love him inside the club, they really do. You can see that.
“The players and the staff think he’s great as well. He’s a good influence on that dressing room.”
The former Toffees man was an influential player at Goodison Park and is apparently having a similar impact in North London.
“It’s really interesting because sometimes people outside the game maybe judge certain players from what they see on a football pitch,” Gold added.
“Maybe when he used to sulk a little bit when he’d come off and he’d want to stay on the pitch at Everton.
“But anyone you spoke to in Everton said he was the best influencer behind the scenes in the way he was with people.
“Just in his drive and his will to win and being a happy person. That’s exactly what they’re saying at Spurs.”
Richarlison has got off to a brilliant start to his Spurs career and has already managed to earn a place in Conte’s eleven over Dejan Kulusevski in the last two games.
Conte’s men travel to Portugal to face Sporting Lisbon tomorrow night after UEFA confirmed the game will go ahead.
