'Special' Arsenal player may have been dealt further blow as starlet makes contract decision - TBR View

Arsenal received a huge boost earlier this week with reports claiming that Kido Taylor-Hart has signed a new long-term contract at the Emirates.

The news delighted many Gunners supporters on social media. The 18-year-old winger looks to be one of the brightest talents coming through at Hale End.

And he was reportedly attracting a lot of attention. Previous reports claimed that clubs in England and in Europe were monitoring the teenager.

So it looks to be excellent news that Taylor-Hart has committed his future to Arsenal.

Reiss Nelson looks to be in a tricky spot at Arsenal. The 21-year-old previously looked destined for a key role in North London. Just last year, he was described as a ‘special talent’ by Mikel Arteta.

However, he has not yet been able to kick on. And it may well be that a summer departure is on the cards.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners had offered to extend Nelson’s contract until 2024 with his current terms set to expire next summer.

However, the wide-man had not accepted the offer. It was noted that Olympiacos and three English clubs had approached Nelson about a potential move.

Kido Taylor-Hart contract decision leaves Nelson facing a tougher task trying to make the grade at Arsenal

As things stand, it is hard to see Nelson really making the grade at Arsenal.

But if he does extend his contract, he would potentially have three years to prove a point. And he only needs to look at Joe Willock to see how game-changing a good loan spell can be.

However, Taylor-Hart signing a new contract arguably makes his job even tougher.

The teenager will surely have his sights set on first-team opportunities in the coming months. And they may perhaps come at the expense of the chances Nelson may receive.

It is surely too soon to write Nelson off altogether. He has previously shown glimpses of just how much talent he possesses.

But Taylor-Hart looks to be the young winger creating a real buzz right now. And having worked so hard to tie him down, Arsenal may well feel that he should get the platform to jump up the pecking order over the coming months.
