Tottenham Hotspur suffered yet another defeat last night at Middlesbrough and BBC pundits Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer got to witness the game live.

Nobody really knows what to make of Spurs right now. After three defeats in a row in the Premier League, Antonio Conte’s men shocked the world and picked up a stunning victory over defending champions Manchester City.

Just as we thought that would give them the confidence to kick on, they suffered a defeat against Burnley. Conte looked like he was done at that point, but he carried on and led his side to a fantastic victory against Leeds United.

Spurs fans really enjoyed that win but it’s back to doom and gloom again after Championship side Boro knocked them out of the FA Cup last night.

Shearer and Lineker: Tottenham fans were quiet against Middlesbrough last night

Speaking on BBC Sport during extra time in the game last night, ex-Spurs man Lineker said: “Tottenham seem pretty flat, they’re struggling with their performance.

“In fact, their fans below us have been pretty quiet. They have been kept pretty quiet by Middlesbrough’s performance.”

Newcastle legend Shearer, who sat alongside Lineker, noticed the exact same thing about the Spurs fans right below them.

He said: “Even the Tottenham fans beneath us here in the studio have gone very quiet, as have their team. Middlesbrough are the team pushing on.”

Middlesbrough were brilliant last night, especially after the break, and the home fans at the Riverside Stadium, predictably, made the most noise.

Spurs supporters weren’t quiet throughout either and they did their best to push their side on. However, a really poor showing in the second half and conceding in extra-time frustrated them.

Tottenham supporters, like Conte and the players, went home disappointed last night. It’s another year without any silverware for them and the pressure really is on Daniel Levy and co to make some serious improvements in the summer transfer window.
