Jamie O’Hara has hit out at Cristian Romero on Twitter after the Tottenham Hotspur defender gave away a free header during the latter stages of their FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough on Tuesday – and then potentially attempted to blame one of his teammates.

Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup in dramatic fashion. A second-half goal in extra-time saw Chris Wilder’s side knock their Premier League opposition out.

Boro certainly had their chances to win the game before extra-time. Matt Crooks missed an unbelievable opportunity from a corner. And Jonny Howson had a chance just as good as the final whistle loomed at the end of the 90 minutes.

Howson managed to get away from Romero quite easily. However, he was only able to put his header wide of the post.

Ben Davies seemed to notice what was about to happen and made a break to try and get near Howson. And as the chance went wide, Romero and Davies held their arms up at each other.

It did appear that the Argentinian was defending himself from criticism from Davies. But clearly, O’Hara interpreted the incident differently, suggesting that Romero was angry that someone else had not picked Howson up.

And O’Hara did not hold back in his criticism of the centre-back…

Incident highlights there is more for Romero to do after brilliant spell for Tottenham

Romero has been colossal of late. He has certainly proved to be worth the wait after enduring some injury issues following his move to North London.

His performances have shown just how much potential he has. However, Howson’s header highlighted that there is still a couple of things for the 23-year-old to work on.

Discipline appears to also be an issue. He picked up a needless yellow card earlier in the game. And he sometimes seems to struggle to keep his cool.

But clearly, the immense quality Romero possesses means that Tottenham will be prepared to put up with the shortcomings for the time-being.
