Arsenal have been closing in on the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

It has appeared for some time that the Ukraine international would become the Gunners’ latest signing.

Reports at the weekend claimed that Arsenal were set to announce a £35million deal at the start of this week.

Meanwhile, it was reported on Monday that Zinchenko had agreed a four-year deal with Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, one report on Tuesday suggested there may have been another twist in the tale.

A report from The Sun claimed Zinchenko could yet consider rejecting the chance to join Arsenal.

It suggested the 25-year-old was weighing up whether to join the Gunners or fight for his place at City.

Luckily for Arsenal fans, Fabrizio Romano has posted an update claiming everything is on track for the Gunners.

On Twitter, he claimed there are “no issues or problems despite some rumours”.

“Zinchenko joins Arsenal,” continued Romano. “He left Man City’s camp as expected and will join AFC squad in the next hours to sign the contract.

“Arsenal and Man City have already prepared documents, to be signed soon.”

Arsenal are currently on tour in the United States.

As per the Evening Standard, prospective new signings would undergo medical checks in the United Kingdom before flying out to join the squad.

But City are also in America and there is certainly scope for Zinchenko to do his medical there instead.
