Leeds United have no intention to enter into talks over a potential sale for Illan Meslier, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Twitter that the club consider the Frenchman to be ‘untouchable’ this summer.
The early signs suggest that Meslier is getting back to his best this season. The 22-year-old was superb in pre-season. And he produced some massive saves in the opening win over Wolves.

His form is a reminder of just how much potential Meslier has. And with that, there is plenty of interest in the goalkeeper.
Reports last week claimed that Manchester United want Meslier. Meanwhile, Phil Hay more recently suggested that Tottenham are particularly interested in the former Lorient man.

But it was always hard to imagine Meslier leaving Elland Road in this window. And Romano has now provided an update on his situation, confirming that there is little chance of a deal being discussed.
Leeds consider Meslier to be untouchable
There would be uproar around Elland Road if Leeds considered selling Meslier to Manchester United. And in truth, it is hard to see why he would want to make the switch to Old Trafford.
Surely, a future move to Tottenham is much more likely. Right now, moving to Spurs is a much more appealing option. They look to have real potential while Antonio Conte is at the helm.
In a couple of years, you would imagine that Spurs will need to replace Hugo Lloris. And Meslier is a player Lloris knows well, having praised his potential previously.
It may also be in the next couple of years when Meslier needs to take that next step. And if Leeds are not progressing at the same speed, he will likely want to move to a club playing in Europe.
Leeds will be aware that keeping him will become more difficult in the future. But they are determined to make sure that he goes nowhere for the time-being.
