Romano claims Cristian Romero has now agreed personal terms with Spurs; ready to sign until 2026
Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Cristian Romero has agreed personal terms with Spurs as the Premier League side look to finalise a fee for the defender.
Fabio Paratici looks to be stepping up Tottenham’s transfer plans. Pierluigi Gollini looks to be closing in on a move to North London.
Bryan Gil meanwhile, may not be far behind. And it seems that a deal for Romero has moved a big step closer.
Romano claimed on Twitter earlier on Thursday that Tottenham were continuing to discuss a move with Atalanta.
He suggested that the Serie A side want £47 million for the Argentina international.
In his latest update, Romano confirmed that no fee has been agreed. However, Spurs have cleared one major hurdle in their pursuit.
According to the journalist, personal terms have been agreed. Romero is ready to pen a deal until 2026.
Spurs unlikely to let Romero slip through their grasp with personal terms agreed
Romero has established himself as one of the world’s best defenders in the last 12 months.
He was outstanding following his loan switch to Atalanta. And he followed that by performing brilliantly at the Copa America with Argentina.
It is a huge statement to have personal terms agreed. And perhaps it is an encouraging sign that Tottenham are not going to let him slip through their grasp.
Of course, it will be a huge outlay to meet Atalanta’s asking price. But Romano did note on his Twitch channel that they will accept the fee being paid over many years.
Spurs are ready to hand Romero a five-year deal. Surely, agreeing a fee is a priority for Paratici for the coming days.
