Report: Paratici target has spoken to 24-year-old Spurs star about potential move

Spurs may partly have Sergio Reguilon to thank when the club manage to announce the arrival of Bryan Gil, with The Athletic reporting that the Sevilla starlet reached out to the left-back to ask him about a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Gil looks set to be one of Fabio Paratici’s first signings in North London. As noted by The Athletic, personal terms have been agreed on a deal.

He will move to the Premier League. Erik Lamela meanwhile, is going to move in the opposite direction. Spurs will pay a further £21.5 million plus add-ons.

Previous reports suggested that the 20-year-old had been offered a five-year deal.

And it seemed that one Tottenham star had given the move his backing. Fans would have noticed Reguilon liking Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post about the speculation.

But it seems that the left-back had been involved in the move some time before that.

According to The Athletic, Gil reached out to Reguilon when Spurs’ interest emerged. Reguilon previously spent a year on loan with Sevilla.

The 24-year-old reportedly recommended a move. Reguilon, of course, only arrived in England from La Liga last summer.

Spurs may find themselves with devastating partnership of Reguilon and Gil

As The Athletic notes, the prospect of Reguilon and Gil playing together should be an extremely exciting one for Spurs supporters.

Reguilon certainly showed glimpses of his quality last season. His form tailed off at times. But Tottenham fans have an idea of how good he could be.

Gil meanwhile, looks to be an amazing talent. There have been comparisons with Jack Grealish.

So if they are able to click down Spurs’ left flank, Nuno Espirito Santo could have an absolutely devastating partnership on his hands next season.
