'Would not be surprised': Journalist says 'incredible' Leeds player could follow Phillips and Raphinha out the door

Leeds United are facing up to a momentous weekend in the Premier League, as they battle to face the drop ahead of Burnley on Sunday.

The Whites travel to Brentford knowing they need to better Burnley’s result to have a chance of staying in the top flight.

Jesse Marsch will have his usual full confidence in his troops. At times, Leeds have produced for the American and he’ll be hoping his best players come out firing against the Bees, who have nothing to play for.

Of course, relegation could mean losing a number of big players. Kalvin Phillips is being linked with a move to Liverpool, while Raphinha could join Newcastle or Barcelona. And according to Leeds Live’s Beren Cross, Spanish forward Rodrigo Moreno could also follow them out of Elland Road.

“The latter is a record signing and the club need to recoup at least some of that fee because it’s hard to see, on this season’s evidence, him signing new terms before 2024. The Spanish return rumours have never really gone away and I would not be surprised if he went back in the summer,” Cross said in a Q&A for Leeds Live.

Rodrigo has flattered to deceive at times during his stay in Leeds. However, Jesse Marsch is a fan of his, and recently labelled the Spaniard as an ‘incredible’ player.

Of course, all three of those players won’t want to play Championship football. But of the three, Rodrigo is the one who Leeds can live without the easiest. While at times Rodrigo has shown flashes of his class, they’ve been few and far between.
