Robert Earnshaw thinks he knows the real reason Nottingham Forest fans were chanting to sack Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou was subjected to negative chants from Nottingham Forest fans this week, and Robert Earnshaw believes he knows why.

Nottingham Forest suffered a surprising 3-2 defeat at home against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, which led to a lot of frustration being aired inside the City Ground.

Loud, “You’re getting sacked in the morning” chants took place, as fans were angry at the performance, and how things have gone this season.

Nottingham Forest’s sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo was a controversial decision that many fans didn’t agree with, but Postecoglou has done little to convince fans that he’s the right man for the job.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager is yet to win a single game in charge of Nottingham Forest, and with fans now frustrated, the pressure is immediately growing.

Robert Earnshaw believes the chants were ‘harsh’ on Ange Postecoglou

Given how new Postecoglou is to this role, it is surprising that the Australian coach has already received such treatment, but it didn’t stop there.

Nottingham Forest fans want Postecoglou to be sacked, with the outrage continuing on social media as fans have pushed the ownership to take action.

Despite the outpouring of negativity toward Postecoglou, Earnshaw explained to talkSPORT that he believes it is down to circumstances, rather than the coach himself.

“So I think it’s a little bit harsh as well, you know, to be singing that about your own manager after six games is incredible.

“Do you know what, it’s because of the situation rather than Ange you know? I actually think Ange should be given a little bit of time.

“Listen, he’s six games in. He’s only been in about three weeks, you know. Come on. Like, what are we talking about? Allow the man to work a little bit.”

Ange Postecoglou will need to turn things around quickly at Nottingham Forest

Postecoglou is the first permanent manager in the last 100 years to not win in his first six games at Nottingham Forest, which is a dismal record that he will be keen to change.

Postecoglou lost fan support while in charge of Tottenham, which proved to be a key factor in his eventual downfall in London.

He can ill-afford for that to happen again, especially after only six games in charge of the club. However, poor results in all competitions are problematic.

TBR Football also revealed that Nuno wants to sign Chris Wood, which would be a significant blow to Nottingham Forest’s attacking qualities if that move happens.
