It was a dramatic transfer deadline day for Liverpool.
The Reds broke the British transfer record as Alexander Isak signed for the club.
However, somehow, the biggest story at Anfield on deadline day wasn’t centred around Alexander Isak.
Marc Guehi almost joined Liverpool on Monday, but after a few dramatic twists, the defender stayed at Crystal Palace.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Marc Guehi’s situation, and he says he’s actually pleased that the defender didn’t go to Anfield, claiming that Liverpool would have won every trophy if they’d completed this signing on deadline day.

Rio Ferdinand pleased Marc Guehi hasn’t joined Liverpool
Ferdinand spoke about Guehi and his failed move to Anfield.
The pundit says he’s disappointed for the player as his dream transfer has collapsed, but he’s pleased to see that Guehi isn’t headed to Liverpool.
“Palace have known for ages by the way that Marc Guehi wants to go,” Ferdinand said.
“It ain’t like he’s just come around the corner. Marc Guehi has said to the club for a long time, I know this, that he wants to leave. It’s been going around for the last month at least, right?
“So, I know that’s a fact. So, they should have been preparing for him to leave and going to get another player.
“I’m actually pleased on one hand Liverpool’s got because they would’ve won everything if Marc Guehi turns up. But for him, I’m disappointed.”
Liverpool’s centre-back depth analysed
Liverpool missed out on Guehi, and while that was painful on deadline day, they should still have enough defensive depth to see them through.
Indeed, Liverpool won the Premier League last season, and while they did lose Jarell Quansah this summer, Giovanni Leoni’s arrival should cover that area.

Four centre-backs two spots across a season should be enough to see Liverpool through, and while injuries are always a nagging concern, Arne Slot does have a great record in terms of keeping his players fit.
