Villarreal are interested in Sergio Reguilon as a replacement for Pervis Estupinan, who was a target for Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (21/8; page 66).
Reguilon is one player who may well leave Spurs in the final days of the transfer window. Perhaps surprisingly, he has been frozen out of the plans by Antonio Conte this season.

The Sun reports that Tottenham want to offload the 25-year-old this month. Fortunately for Spurs, there is interest, with both Nice and Villarreal eyeing a deal.
Nice are certainly looking towards the Premier League for their targets. Reports recently claimed that they are working on a deal for Nicolas Pepe.

But Villarreal’s interest is noteworthy, because The Sun on Sunday (21/8; page 66) reports that the Yellow Submarine want Reguilon as a replacement for Estupinan.
Estupinan joined Brighton for £14.9 million this summer. But the Seagulls were not the only Premier League side who wanted the Ecuador international.
In fact, reports claimed that, at one stage, Tottenham were the side most likely to sign the 24-year-old. And it was then claimed that Antonio Conte had told Spurs to sign the defender.
Villarreal interested in Reguilon
Obviously, Tottenham now have plenty of depth at left-back. So the club may not be overly disappointed to see Estupinan head elsewhere.
And they will also welcome the additional interest in Reguilon. It does no one any favours if the £27 million star remains on the club’s books beyond this window.
Reguilon is a brilliant player. And he will be desperate to get back to playing regularly ahead of the World Cup.
With Nice and Villarreal both keen, it will be no surprise if an opportunity presents itself.
