Report: Villarreal hoping to agree £21m deal for Spurs' Lo Celso

Villarreal are hoping to agree a deal worth up to £21m for Giovani Lo Celso, but The Times suggests that Tottenham Hotspur want more for the Argentinian.

Lo Celso looks destined to leave Spurs in this window. He spent the second-half of this past campaign on loan with the Yellow Submarine.

And it seems that his spell was a real success. Reports claimed that those at Villarreal were left in love with Lo Celso. And it certainly seems that there are set to be plenty of talks between Tottenham and Unai Emery’s side in the weeks ahead.

Why Footballers Keep Running Down Their Contracts

Tottenham want Pau Torres. Meanwhile, weekend reports claimed that Spurs are the side most likely to sign left-back Pervis Estupinan.

The reports on Torres noted that there was the potential for a swap deal involving Lo Celso. But obviously, much would depend on the two clubs’ respective valuations of the players.

And The Times has now shared how much Villarreal want to pay for Lo Celso. They suggest that they are prepared to pay £16 million up front, with a further £5 million coming in add-ons.

However, the report adds that Tottenham want more for the 26-year-old.

Villarreal hoping to agree £21m Lo Celso deal

Tottenham spent a considerable amount of money to bring Lo Celso to North London. So you can understand why they may be holding out for much more.

However, Lo Celso – who was labelled ‘exciting‘ by Harry Winks – looks to have no future under Antonio Conte at Tottenham. So surely, the priority has to be offloading the midfielder in this window.

Perhaps they may be able to squeeze more from Villarreal. And they may hope to use Lo Celso to reduce the cost of a move for Torres.

But the Yellow Submarine are surely not far away from offering a reasonable amount. And it would be a setback for Spurs if they could not now go on and reach some sort of agreement.
