Report: Villarreal have made first offer for Giovani Lo Celso
Villarreal have made their first offer for Giovani Lo Celso, with Marca reporting that they want to take the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder on a loan that will become permanent for £12.6 million next summer.
Lo Celso looks destined to leave Spurs in this window. He spent the second-half of last season on loan with the Yellow Submarine. And he remains out of Antonio Conte’s plans in North London.
There is plenty of interest in the Argentina international. Reports have suggested that Napoli want Lo Celso. Meanwhile, Fiorentina are also keen to take the 26-year-old to Italy.
But the pair face a battle to sign the former Real Betis man. Marca reports that Lo Celso wants to return to Villarreal. And Unai Emery is similarly keen to agree a deal.
Marca reports that Villarreal have made a loan bid for Lo Celso that includes a £12.6 million obligation to buy.
The offer falls short of Tottenham’s reported asking price for Lo Celso. Reports have suggested that they want £20 million. But perhaps, Villarreal will hope that their offer to make the move permanent opens the door for a compromise.

Spurs will hope that Villarreal’s offer sparks something of a bidding war amongst his admirers. Clearly, it is not going to be easy for Tottenham to receive their full asking price.
So Villarreal stepping up their interest may prompt the other sides to make some kind of move. And obviously, that may then see the overall fee go up.
Lo Celso has the potential to be a ‘magnificent‘ player. And he enjoyed a hugely successful spell back in La Liga last season.
Villarreal will not want to miss out. And, now a bid has gone in, it may not be too long before a decision on his future is made.
