Report: Tottenham monitoring Sesko; but may face another Liverpool battle

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are amongst the raft of clubs interested in signing Benjamin Sesko as he continues to catch the eye with Red Bull Salzburg, according to a report from Bild.

Sesko has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Europe. He has seven goals and seven assists in all competitions for the Austrian side.

He went into this campaign off the back of a loan spell in the second tier where he scored 21 in 29. Unsurprisingly, some are comparing him with a certain former Salzburg forward.

Sesko previously suggested that his teammates compare him with Erling Haaland. In fact, he claimed that some tell him that he is even better than the Norwegian.

Bild has named a host of sides who are monitoring the 18-year-old. Liverpool, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Lazio are amongst the teams interested in Sesko.

Liverpool may hope to repeat Luis Diaz trick as Tottenham also eye Sesko

Tottenham may have a horrible sense of deja vu seeing themselves linked with Sesko at the same time as Liverpool. The two clubs were the teams most strongly linked with Luis Diaz during the January transfer window.

Spurs reportedly made a £46 million bid for the Porto star. And they may have hoped that they were about to spring a major surprise and sign one of the best attacking players playing in Europe right now.

Liverpool however, snatched Diaz from Tottenham’s grasp. And the early signs suggest that Tottenham will be made to rue missing out.

Perhaps that may influence how Tottenham deal with their interest in Sesko. Obviously, Liverpool’s need for an attacking player has diminished.

But others are in the running. And Sesko looks to be a special prospect. His agent previously labelled him one of the greatest talents of his age group. He also used the word ‘incredible’ to describe the teenager.
