Tottenham Hotspur have identified Jordan Pickford as their top target to replace Hugo Lloris in the summer, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

Lloris’ most recent appearance saw him contest his second successive World Cup final. Nevertheless, it appears that Spurs are preparing for life after the Frenchman.

The 35-year-old has been a stalwart of the side for a decade. However, it is probably fair to say that Lloris has not been on quite the same level over the last couple of years.

And with that, Tottenham are making plans for when the time comes to find a new number one.

Reports from Give Me Sport have suggested that Spurs want Emi Martinez. Meanwhile, the same outlet claimed that there is interest in Yann Sommer.

But it would appear that it may be another name at the top of their wishlist. According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Pickford is their top target ahead of next season.

Pickford is no stranger to the Spurs radar. Reports from 90min suggested that Tottenham asked about the Everton goalkeeper’s availability during the summer for a future window.

Pickford has come in for criticism during his time on Merseyside. But he has been ‘exceptional‘ at times. Only Richarlison arguably did more to keep Everton in the Premier League last season.

He has also shone for England. No goalkeeper kept more clean sheets at the World Cup than the 28-year-old.

Everton will not want to let him go without a fight. And actually, there may be some Tottenham fans who have their concerns about the prospect of Pickford replacing Lloris.

He will surely have his sights set on playing on the biggest stages at club level. So perhaps Spurs’ interest may ultimately come at the perfect time.
