Tottenham have apparently made a bid for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, although Real Madrid could be out to spoil the party for Spurs.

Reports have surfaced this week to suggest that Kounde is a target for Spurs this summer. Per Sky Italy and as reported on TBR yesterday, Kounde is said to be on top of the list for new Tottenham transfer supremo, Fabio Paratici.

Further, according to reports from ABC today, Spurs have already made a bid for the French international. They suggest that the Londoners are very much in the mix for Kounde.

However, so are Real Madrid. It’s suggested that Los Blancos could be willing to pay around £50m for Kounde, who apparently has a release clause closer to the £70m mark.

Any move from Madrid is likely to scupper Spurs massively. Carlo Ancelotti is being backed by the owners after returning to Spain. Tottenham, meanwhile, are yet to appoint a new manager.

Kounde is highly-rated on the European market. Indeed, his teammate Diego Carlos has said before that his defensive partner is ‘very strong’ and capable of playing for the elite.

Tottenham, then, would be getting a fine player if they do land Kounde.

Tottenham can bid all they want for Jules Kounde but Madrid will be tempting

Once again, we are back to the issue of Spurs not having a manager. They’re never going to get anywhere with players unless they sort it. And sort it fast.

Kounde is clearly a class act. Top clubs across Europe have courted him, so it’s no surprise to see Real Madrid now in the mix.

If Madrid do move for him, then how he turns them down is anyone’s guess.

For Tottenham, it will just be another player to slip the net. And a pattern that the club can’t afford to let emerge throughout the entire summer.
