Report: Tottenham have meeting in London scheduled for this week to complete signing of 'incredible' defender

Tottenham Hotspur are pressing on with their pursuit of a new central defender and it seems like a move for Gleison Bremer could be close.

Bremer has emerged as a target for a number of high-profile European clubs this summer, with Tottenham among a cluster of teams vying for his signature. Inter Milan, as has been widely reported, are also in the race, with Bremer said to hold a preference for joining the Serie A side.

However, Milan News – quoting Tuttosport – claims that Torino’s sporting director, Davide Vagnati, will fly to London this week to meet with Tottenham over a potential deal for Bremer. If that meeting is successful, then that could suggest Spurs have given up on landing Inter star, Alessandro Bastoni.

Of course, Bremer’s name is nothing new for Spurs fans. He was linked last year, while just recently reports suggested that Conte had warned Inter he would sign Bremer if they didn’t let him have Bastoni.

Bremer has been superb for Torino in recent seasons and respected transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, labelled the defender as ‘incredible’ for what he’s done in Serie A.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Landing Gleison Bremer Is A Good Thing For Conte

If Bastoni is going to drop by the wayside, then signing Bremer is about as good as Tottenham can do as a second option.

The Torino man has been exceptional in the last 12 months and would thoroughly deserve his move to a club playing Champions League football. Indeed, Spurs fans need only look at the last defender they splashed out on from Serie A for evidence of how well things can go.

Should Spurs come to an agreement with Bremer this week, then Tottenham fans can be happy with the start to their summer business. Along with Forster and Perisic, Bremer would bring added quality to the squad.
