Report: Spurs and Arsenal target Sterling offered to Real Madrid
Raheem Sterling has been offered to Real Madrid, according to Spanish outlet AS, in news that may seem bittersweet to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Sterling’s future at Manchester City now looks to be up in the air. His contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2023. The Daily Mirror suggested at the weekend that he may leave on a free transfer in a year.
But it seems that his departure could come a lot sooner. AS reports that City are willing to sell him this summer. Meanwhile, Sterling – who cost £49 million – is also apparently ready to go.

And action has now been taken. AS reports that he has been offered to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. It is noted that he is not in Madrid’s plans for this window. So that may be one option that is off the table for the winger.
And that may please both Tottenham and Arsenal. Previous reports claimed that they both hoped to sign the England international.
Obviously, it is not encouraging that he seems to have been offered to several other European heavyweights. But Spurs and the Gunners may take some belief from the fact that City are open to a sale.

Even if Tottenham and Arsenal miss out on Sterling, his next move could have positive implications. Joining Bayern Munich may increase the likelihood of Serge Gnabry leaving. Once again, he is a player both North London sides are after.
But perhaps Manchester City’s stance will tempt either club into an ambitious bid. Sterling is an ‘outstanding‘ player who can play almost anywhere in the forward line.
And his contract situation may open the door for a potential bargain – if he is at all interested in joining either Tottenham or Arsenal.
