'Absolutely outstanding': Sky pundit raves about one Manchester City star for Norwich performance
Manchester City hammered Norwich with relative ease this evening as a stunning hat-trick from Raheem Sterling saw Pep Guardiola’s men past Dean Smith’s side.
The result was never really in any doubt right from the off. But as we all know in Premier League football, shocks do happen and Norwich would have fancied pulling off the ultimate surprise. But as soon as the game got into its swing, the result was never really in doubt.
Sterling’s hat-trick was an excellent display of just how ruthless the England man can be on his day, while Phil Foden also got himself on the scoresheet. However, it was Sterling who caught the eye of the onlooking Sky commentary team, and Andy Hinchcliffe was blown away by Sterling’s performance.
“Sterling has been absolutely outstanding. His quality has shone through,” Hinchcliffe said on air.
Despite not always being a regular this season in Guardiola’s XI, Sterling is already into double figures for the campaign now with 12. There has been continued talk about his long-term future at the club. However, with performances like this, City would seem silly to let him leave.
TBR’s View: Raheem Sterling As Good As Ever
He was England’s key man in the Euros and after a slow opening half to the season, Sterling seems to be back to his very very best in the blue of Man City.
His pace is still frightening and at 27, he has his best years still to come you feel. He’s fast approaching the 150 goal mark for City as well, which is a tremendous achievement.
City have more or less got this league title wrapped up. Liverpool are pushing, but Guardiola’s side are just relentless and performances like this show it. Ultimately, it will take a minor miracle now for the Reds to even get close to catching City at the summit.
