Report shares Ancelotti plan for Leeds target Gutierrez

Leeds United have been dealt a fresh blow if they indeed hoped to sign Miguel Gutierrez this summer, with Defensa Central sharing Carlo Ancelotti’s stance on the youngster’s future.

TEAMtalk reported in April that Leeds were eyeing a potential loan move for Gutierrez. It was suggested that any bid may include an option to buy.

However, it had seemed that their hopes had been dashed. El Espanol recently claimed that Zinedine Zidane wanted to keep the 19-year-old.

The teenager made six appearances in La Liga this past season. And it seemed that he had earned a place in Zidane’s plans for the coming campaign.

But of course, much has since changed since that report.

Zidane has since left the Bernabeu. So perhaps Leeds may have held out some hope that Gutierrez’s situation may have become more uncertain.

It is not clear whether Zidane’s departure provided Leeds with any additional impetus to step up any interest in the left-back.

But any uncertainty over his future seems to have now been addressed.

According to Defensa Central, new Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is planning to promote Gutierrez ahead of next season. Including the starlet in his plans is something he is planning for.

Ancelotti promoted several younger players during his previous stint with Real. And he is looking to do something similar this time around.

Leeds may have to consider another target after potential Gutierrez blow

Gutierrez will stay in the Spanish capital. And in truth, Leeds may have held out little hope despite Zidane’s departure.

They will surely now be looking elsewhere. Marcelo Bielsa’s men certainly appear to need a new signing in that area of the pitch.

Gjanni Alioski was outstanding in the final weeks of the season. But there remain doubts about his Elland Road future.

Leeds arguably need a new left-back ahead of their second year back in the Premier League, whether he stays or not.

Stuart Dallas was predominantly a midfielder last season. Meanwhile, Leif Davis probably did not feature as much as he would have liked.

Gutierrez however, looks set to stay exactly where he is.
