Newcastle United could face a battle with Real Madrid should they make a move for Alexander Isak, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that the Champions League winners have asked to be kept informed of any bids that come in for the Swede.
Isak actually endured an underwhelming season last year by his ‘exceptional‘ standards. The 22-year-old only scored six goals in La Liga. Nevertheless, there remains plenty of interest in the striker.

Reports recently claimed that Newcastle are very interested in Isak. His name keeps cropping up in recruitment meetings at St James’ Park.
Of course, it appears that Dan Ashworth’s focus will now be on signing attacking players this summer. So it may not be a huge surprise if a bid for Isak was made at some stage.

One of the teams that may learn if Newcastle have made an offer for Isak is Real Madrid. Mundo Deportivo reports that Los Blancos really want the Real Sociedad star.
In fact, they have asked to be kept informed of any bids made for Isak as they weigh up an offer of their own.
Newcastle facing Real Madrid battle for Alexander Isak
Newcastle probably felt that they had enough hurdles to clear in their push to sign Isak. His contract includes a £76 million release clause. And it has been suggested previously that Real will accept nothing less for the youngster.
Obviously, the Magpies are not going to pay that much for Isak. Mundo Deportivo reports that Real’s fear is that a team will only offer around half that amount and manage to persuade Isak to push to leave.
Keeping Isak will not be easier now that Madrid have entered the running. And it certainly will be even more difficult for Newcastle to agree a deal should they push to sign Isak this summer.
