Report: Path now cleared for Tottenham to bring 'fantastic' £65m forward to N17

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Everton star Richarlison in recent weeks.

And the Daily Mail has just reported that Spurs are about to have a clear path to bring the Brazilian to N17.

This is due to another significant transfer story unfolding across London.

Namely, Leeds United star Raphinha reportedly closing in on a move to Chelsea.

As well as Tottenham, the Blues were said to be eyeing the Toffees attacking ace.

But now, Chelsea have apparently agreed a deal with Leeds to bring Raphinha to Stamford Bridge.

As per the Mail, personal terms between the Blues and the player are ‘not expected to be an issue’.

And with Chelsea also trying to sign Raheem Sterling, that suggests they’ll drop their interest in Richarlison.

This means Tottenham – who have apparently bid for Richarlison already – may have just moved a step closer to his signature.

On Tuesday, journalist Jon Sopel reported that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Everton counterpart Bill Kenwright were having dinner at a restaurant the night before.

Sopel was at the table next to them, he claimed on Twitter.

Everton reportedly want £65million to sell the 25-year-old.

Tottenham making statements of intent this summer

Spurs certainly aren’t slowing down in their pursuit of summer signings.

They’ve already landed Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic.

And as well as Richarlison, Tottenham are apparently still in discussions over Djed Spence.

With Spurs hoping to impress in the Premier League, Champions League and the domestic cups, they’re certainly putting in the work in improving their team.

Though he won’t come cheap – Everton reportedly want in excess of £50million – Richarlison would be a good addition to the Tottenham ranks.

Blessed with pace, skill and versatility, the “fantastic” forward can feature out wide or as a central striker.

Richarlison also has that tenacious side to him, which make him a difficult proposition for opposition defenders.

And then there’s the key factor of experience in the Premier League, which means he should hit the ground running for Spurs.
