Report: Tottenham want Richarlison but face paying £65m for Everton star

Tottenham Hotspur want Richarlison, but Antonio Conte’s men will have to be prepared to break their transfer record to sign the Everton star, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (12/6; page 68).

Spurs are continuing their push to bolster their squad ahead of their Champions League return. And it seems that one of their next priorities is signing another forward.

Reports claimed that they want Richarlison. And it has been suggested that insiders at Everton believe that he could leave Goodison Park this summer.

However, Tottenham may have pay a lot more than they were hoping. The Sun reports that Spurs hope to do a deal for around £50 million.

Everton meanwhile, want at least £65 million for the 25-year-old. The Brazilian has informed the Toffees of his desire to leave during this window. He has also changed his agents.

Paying £65 million would see Tottenham break their transfer record. So it would be interesting to see what they make of Everton’s potential demands.

Tottenham fans may be expecting their record to be broken this summer. Conte is expected to be backed. And that may involve paying huge sums for a couple of their targets.

They have already brought in two free signings in Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster. So that will help Tottenham should they want to spend the much larger fees on other targets.

Richarlison has been labelled a ‘special‘ player. And it is fair to say that no Everton player did more to keep them up this past season. He is approaching a half-century of Premier League goals in 178 games.

That is not a bad return for a player who can play across the forward line. He is also yet to have the chance to play for a side which has been thriving for a long period of time.

He is a divisive player. And there will be plenty of Tottenham fans who strongly dislike the idea of spending so much on him.

But they will also surely back Conte if he insists that he is worth the money.
