Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici is already looking towards the January transfer window.

Spurs enjoyed their best start to a Premier League season, but their form has started to dip.

A report from Serie B News suggests that Tottenham might be looking to further bolster their attacking options.

The report suggests that Paratici wants to sign Bari striker Walid Cheddira.

Cheddira is currently top scorer in Serie B, Italy’s equivalent of the Championship, with eight goals in ten games.

He’s also popped up with five assists, and his formed has earned him a call-up to the Moroccan national team.

Fellow Serie B striker Massimo Coda is a big fan of Cheddira, saying: “I fear Cheddira for sure (for top scorer), he has so much strength in his legs and always creates something with the ball.”

Cheddira is only 24 and has plenty of potential to get better in a tougher environment.

Paratici wants to sign Cheddira

The Tottenham hierarchy would be very wise to listen to Paratici’s demands when it comes to Italian-based players.

He and Conte were very keen on Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski last January, and both have turned out to be excellent signings.

The arrival of Ivan Perisic this summer has also been praised, while Destiny Udogie will join up with the squad next season.

Cheddira is a very different prospect though, currently playing below the top flight in Italy.

Spurs have Son Heung-min and Richarlison available to fill in as a centre-forward if Harry Kane is ever unavailable.

However, Cheddira would offer Spurs a more natural replacement up-front.

The report suggests that plenty of Italian clubs are also interested in him.

However, the lure of joining Tottenham and playing European football might be enough to convince him to move abroad.

If Paratici wants to sign Cheddira, Tottenham would be very wise to listen.

There may be concerns about how well he copes with the step up from Serie B to the Premier League.

Under Conte, he would have a manager who knows both levels very well and can help him with that adjustment.
