‘Very promising’: Alasdair Gold names the Tottenham Hotspur signing he thinks has had the best start to life at Spurs
Conte’s side are currently unbeaten in the Premier League, and sit a point behind top of the table Arsenal.
Perisic has featured in every match so far this season for Tottenham, and been one of the side’s most creative players.
His four assists across all competitions have been vital, as has his brilliant set piece taking.
For Gold to rate Perisic as Spurs’ best signing so far this season is a great achievement, especially given the start Richarlison has made.
The importance of wing-backs in Conte’s system means Perisic starting brightly has been essential to Tottenham’s success.
Perisic has enjoyed great start to life at Tottenham
Few summer transfers at this stage of the season look as impressive as Tottenham bringing in Perisic on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old has excelled in Italy and Germany throughout his career, and it’s no surprise he’s made such a good start at Tottenham.
In his Football London piece, Gold gave Perisic an 8.5 out of 10 and wrote: “He took a little while to warm up but the experienced Croatian has already proved to be an astute free transfer for Spurs.
“Still understandably some adjustments are needed to handle the pace of the English game when defending but it’s been a very promising start to life in the Premier League.”
Conte already believes that Perisic is one of the best players in the world in his position.
There are reportedly regrets at former club Inter Milan about letting Perisic go.
Tottenham fans will be hoping his fitness isn’t a concern after limping off against Denmark on international duty.
Perisic was involved in a challenge with teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg that saw him substituted as a precaution.
