Report: 'Outstanding' PL star is really 'intrigued' by what Conte said about him, Tottenham can sign him for free
According to Sky Sports, Christian Eriksen is really intrigued by what Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has said about re-signing him for Spurs.
The Dane joined Brentford in January and there were concerns over how he’d fare after what happened last year. However, Eriksen has just been incredible over the last few months, and he is a wanted man this summer.
The 30-year-old will be a free agent at the end of this month, and he has been linked with a return to Tottenham, the place where he made a name for himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Going by Conte’s own words, there’s a good chance that Spurs could bring him back this summer.
What did Antonio Cone say about re-signing Christian Eriksen
Rumours suggesting Tottenham want to re-sign Eriksen were always going to be there this summer considering that he’s available for free. However, what fueled all the speculation is Conte’s comments about the Dane just six weeks ago.
Back in April, when asked if he wanted to bring Eriksen back, Conte said, as quoted by TBR Football: “Yeah, for sure.
“To work again with Christian is a fantastic opportunity, I enjoyed the time we spent together despite the first time he did not play regularly with me.
“But when I understand what I wanted with him, he played and we won the title together in Italy. When you have this player, great player, good man, every coach would like to work with them.”
He’s intrigued by the Tottenham boss’ comments
Sky Sports reveal that Brentford have offered Eriksen a new contract to keep him at the club beyond the end of this month, but the Dane is yet to respond.
It has been claimed that he feels settled in London again, but he’s desperate to get back to playing football at the highest level – in the Champions League.
The report also claims that Eriksen is really ‘intrigued’ by what Conte said about re-signing him back in April, which is a good sign for Spurs fans, as a return may well be on the cards this summer.
Eriksen, branded as ‘outstanding by Vitaly Janelt, left Tottenham back in January 2020 and Spurs are still yet to properly replace him. Who better to replace the Dane than the man himself?
It’s a no-brainer in our opinion, especially as he’ll be available on a free transfer.
