The 22-year-old is still high on Forest’s list of players they would like to sign this month, after owner Evangelos Marinakis made it his personal mission to sign Gibbs-White.
Although the report suggests Wolves don’t have to sell Gibbs-White this summer, Bruno Lage’s side have now spent big money on two new signings; Goncalo Guedes and Matheus Nunes.

The 23-year-old Portuguese is also a central midfielder, and this could have implications of Gibbs-White’s minutes at Molineux.
Forest still want to sign Gibbs-White
Nottingham Forest will be hoping that Wolves’ newest recruit improves their chances of bringing Gibbs-White to the City Ground.
The ‘outstanding’ 22-year-old would provide great competition for Jesse Lingard, or could play in a slightly deeper role for Cooper.
Gibbs-White scored 11 goals and contributed 9 assists on loan at Sheffield United this season, and is clearly ready to play a big part in the Premier League this season.
However, it may still be difficult to tempt Wolves to sell Gibbs-White, given how different he is to new signing Nunes.

Nunes is a creative, but more defensively-minded central midfielder, who tends to sit on the left-hand side.
Gibbs-White is much more attacking, and is normally played on the right, meaning he is unlikely to have much crossover with Nunes, and in fact the two could play as a pair is Ruben Neves is unavailable.
However, if Nottingham Forest come back in with another large bid for Gibbs-White, the latest offer that was rejected was around £35m, Wolves might be tempted.
Forest have already brought in more than 15 players this summer, and that determination to add to their squad suggests they won’t give up on Gibbs-White without a fight.
