Newcastle United have opened talks with Watford over a possible transfer involving Will Hughes and potentially one Magpies star, according to The Sun.
Despite previous reports Steve Bruce is set to be handed £50 million to spend this summer, it appears that the Magpies are looking to be shrewd in the market.

It was previously claimed that they were reluctant to spend £4 million on Mario Lemina. And it now seems that they could engineer a swap that brings Hughes to St James’ Park.
According to The Sun, the Magpies are discussing a deal for Hughes, with Watford prepared to sell the 26-year-old for £12 million.

Interestingly, it is claimed that Isaac Hayden could end up moving in the opposite direction as part of the move.
Watford reportedly want the former Arsenal academy graduate.
Will Hughes could be inspired signing for Newcastle in transfer window
Hughes has had an interesting career. He looked destined for greatness when he was handed his Derby County debut at the age of 16.
He may not have hit the heights that some expected. But he has previously had to deal with serious injury. And he has had a very good career so far.
He would bring Premier League experience. And his age suggests that he is now entering into his peak.
A lot of Newcastle supporters became extremely worried when the reports about Lemina’s asking price emerged. There seemed little risk paying £4 million for the Gabon international.
Hughes is perhaps not a marquee addition. But he would have the potential to be an inspired buy at a price of around £12 million if everything clicks for him.
With Newcastle keen and Watford open to a sale, surely there is a good chance that a move can get done.
