Newcastle are not giving up on signing Sven Botman despite the Dutch centre-back being close to signing for AC Milan this summer, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Eddie Howe’s men will definitely be ones to watch over the summer. The Magpies were brilliant during the second-half of the campaign and stayed up with ease.

Their signings during the January transfer window were excellent. So the fans will be excited about what is to come for Newcastle.

Botman is one player who has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park. Amanda Staveley even claimed that the 22-year-old was desperate to join the club in January.

However, it appeared that Botman was heading elsewhere. Fabrizio Romano previously suggested that he was really close to joining AC Milan. Of course, the Rossoneri can offer him Champions League football next year.

But Milan will not have a clear run to his signature. Calciomercato reports that Newcastle are yet to give up on signing Botman.

Beating Milan to Botman’s signature would be a huge statement from Newcastle. Milan won the league title this season. And obviously, the £30 million-rated youngster is very much open to moving to San Siro.

But the longer the wait for an announcement goes on, the more hope Newcastle fans will have that they could yet snatch Botman from Milan’s grasp.

It would be no surprise to see Newcastle pull off some stunning pieces of business this summer. Certainly, some players will follow in the footsteps of Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes.

Botman is one of the most talented centre-backs in Europe right now. He is a ‘machine‘. And he looks to have an incredibly high ceiling.

And Newcastle believe that he could still end up playing for them next season.
