A mystery Premier League club have approached Villarreal for Arsenal target Yeremy Pino, according to Diario AS.

A report from the Spanish newspaper suggests that Villarreal have ‘received something more than an interest’ for forward Pino.

Although they do not name which club has approached Villarreal, they name Arsenal and Liverpool as the two English clubs who have held an interest in the 19-year-old.

Primarily a right-winger, Pino is capable of playing all across the front line, and has already made his senior international debut.

The exciting young forward is one of Villarreal’s most prized assets, and he signed a new deal with the club that runs until 2027 last year.

He made headlines towards the end of last season when he scored four goals against Espanyol in a 5-1 win, including a perfect hat-trick in the first half.

He also started Villarreal’s Europa League final win against Manchester United the season before.

A move from Arsenal to sign the ‘special’ Pino this summer would be another statement of intent in a summer that’s already seen them spend a significant amount of money.

New signings Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko impressed in their 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season.

Gary Neville described Arsenal’s performance as better than Manchester City at times, as they dominated first-half proceedings before soaking up pressure from Palace at the game went on.

If Arsenal were to sign Pino, it seems unlikely that he would be able to replace fan favourite Bukayo Saka on the right-wing, especially as reports suggest he’s recently been offered a new contract.

Pino has also been compared to Gabriel Martinelli, with both players putting in a similar shift defensively – their tackling and pressing numbers are very alike.

However, his ability to play in a number of attacking positions would make him very useful to Mikel Arteta, and under the tutelage of former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, he’s quickly developing into one of Spain’s best young players.
