Report: Arsenal offer 'special' player new contract; he'd become joint second-highest earner at N5

Arsenal have made Bukayo Saka a new contract offer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old has been nothing short of sensational for the Gunners since breaking into the first team.

Saka is one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet and has already made 131 appearances for Arsenal.

The Gunners star has 23 goals and 29 assists under his belt in red and white.

Saka has also become a regular for England, winning 18 caps and scoring four goals for the Three Lions.

His Arsenal contract expires in two years’ time, and talks over an extension have been ongoing.

Saka’s form and contract situation has also led to interest from other clubs, with Manchester City reportedly keen.

New £140,000-a-week deal for Saka?

However, the Daily Mail has reported that Arsenal have now made a formal contract offer to their academy graduate.

Apparently, the extension would see Saka’s wages rise to ‘at least double’ his current £70,000-a-week deal.

This would make Saka the joint second-highest earner at N5, on par with Nicolas Pepe’s £140,000-a-week contract.

Thomas Partey is currently the highest-earning player at Arsenal, on a reported £200,000-a-week (Spotrac).

‘As it stands there is no agreement, and it remains to be seen how the Saka formally responds to the offer,’ stressed the Daily Mail.

‘But there is a confidence at the Emirates that a deal can be struck to secure Saka’s future and lock in his £100million transfer value.’

Agreeing a new contract with Saka will feel just as satisfying as a new signing for many supporters.

He has been absolutely outstanding ever since breaking into the senior team.

Keeping Saka – who has been described as ‘special‘ – is vital in helping Arsenal go where they want to be.

And things certainly seem to be heading in the right direction.
