Neville says Arsenal were better than Manchester City at times
Gary Neville has told The Gary Neville Podcast that the football Arsenal played for 15 minutes on Friday was better than anything Manchester City produced on Sunday.
The Gunners are off to a flyer in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s men won 2-0 at Crystal Palace. And they showed signs that they have taken another step forward ahead of this campaign.
They dug in, particularly in the second-half. And they made sure that they got that crucial second goal at Selhurst Park – which has, traditionally, not been a happy hunting ground for the Gunners.
But that was only part of the story concerning Arsenal’s performance. In fact, in the opening stages, they were absolutely outstanding. Gabriel Jesus was scintillating. And he was not the only player to shine.
Certainly, Neville felt that what Arsenal produced early on was more impressive than the performance from Manchester City in their 2-0 win over West Ham.
“The thing about Arsenal on Friday night is they played football that was absolutely sensational. Actually, for 15 minutes, it was better than the football I’ve seen here today from Manchester City. That’s as high a praise as I can give. The first 15 minutes, it was electric,” he told The Gary Neville Podcast.
Arsenal better than Manchester City
Obviously, it looks to be too soon for Arsenal to potentially feature in the title picture. But the fans will want the side to make a step forward and finish in the top-four.
It is going to take a lot for anyone to catch City or Liverpool. But Arsenal are definitely heading in the right direction. They now have a superb squad with so much potential to improve further.
And they are now adding a couple of major signings in each window.
Of course, we are only one game into the season. But the early signs are very positive.
