Report: Lyon reject Spurs swap bid for Houssem Aouar involving Tanguy Ndombele
Lyon have rejected an offer from Spurs that would have involved Houssem Aouar moving to North London and Tanguy Ndombele heading in the opposite direction, according to a report from Le 10 Sport over the weekend.
It appears that Ndombele is hoping to be on the move before the window shuts. The Telegraph reported last week that he had asked to leave Tottenham.
Ndombele is yet to feature under Nuno Espirito Santo. And it would appear that Spurs are open to letting him go.
In fact, Le 10 Sport has claimed that Tottenham approached Lyon with a swap bid involving Ndombele.
The report suggests that Spurs lead the charge for Aouar. And they seemingly attempted to use Ndombele in an offer for the 23-year-old.
However, Le 10 Sport reports that the Ligue 1 side rejected the bid. It is noted that Peter Bosz does not want Ndombele. Meanwhile, his wages would have been a problem for Lyon.
Hard to believe Spurs pitched a swap involving Ndombele and Aouar given respective asking prices
The report does not share all of the details of the potential Tottenham bid. But it is claimed a fee would have also been involved.
However, the report does make it sound like it is Spurs who may have also put a fee on the table. Admittedly, it is not entirely clear.
So it is hard to imagine Tottenham having any interest in a swap deal that involved anything offer than a huge fee coming their way also.
Shifting Ndombele in this window is going to be extremely difficult. He earns £200,000-a-week, according to The Athletic. And few clubs are really splashing the cash in this window.
But Spurs fans may well be hoping that a deal for Aouar is still possible before the deadline passes.
